Statement: On National Purple Heart Day, Americans Should Pause to Salute Service and Sacrifice, Honor Iran War Purple Heart Heroes
Statement from the National Purple Heart Honor Mission in advance of National Purple Heart Day, August 7
(NEWBURGH, NY) – The National Purple Heart Honor Mission released the following statement in advance of National Purple Heart Day, August 7:
“As the nation continues to celebrate 250 years since its founding, Americans acknowledge that our resiliency would not have been possible without the sacrifice of our 1.8 million-plus Purple Heart recipients. Across generations and continents, everyday Americans, of all backgrounds, have stepped forward to answer their country’s call to duty to defend liberty and freedom from the darkness of Nazism, communism, fascism and terrorism. They gave their lives or bore the physical and emotional scars of war for a lifetime.
“Purple Heart recipients are a true cross-section of America, and our heroes continue to answer our nation’s call. This National Purple Heart Day, we especially remember the 18 service members who have been killed and all those wounded during Operation Epic Fury and the ongoing overseas operations against the Iranian regime.
“To all our Purple Heart heroes, a grateful nation pauses to honor you today. By honoring these patriots and telling their stories, the next generations of Americans will be reminded that the liberties we enjoy as Americans come with a price. Our Purple Heart heroes remind us that all gave some and some gave all.”
