Aloysius Joseph Steber

Aloysius Steber served as a Combat Engineer with Company C, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division from June 1943 to September 1945.

During his service, Steber participated in the Allied invasion of Normandy, landing on Omaha Beach on June 8, 1944. During fighting at Hill 192 during the St Lo Breakout on July 12, 1944, Steber sustained serious wounds, resulting in the awarding of the Purple Heart.
