Steven Woelk

Steven Woelk enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1966 and served for the next three years. In January 1968, while off Wonsan, North Korea, then-FM3 Woelk was aboard the USS Pueblo when it was attacked by North Korean forces in the Sea of Japan. FM3 Woelk was wounded-in-action while destroying top secret documents, before being captured as a Prisoner of War (POW).

Along with his Purple Heart, PO2 Woelk was awarded numerous medals and commendations during his service, including the Navy Commendation Medal with gold star and “V” device, and the Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) and more.
