KNWA: Mountainburg Purple Heart recipient selected for national honor

A Crawford County Purple Heart recipient has been selected for a national honor recognizing the service of America’s combat-wounded veterans.

U.S. Army Specialist John Parette of Mountainburg was selected as Arkansas’ representative for the 2026 Purple Heart Patriot Project, a National Purple Heart Honor Mission program. He was chosen from hundreds of nominees nationwide, according to a news release.

The program honors combat-wounded service members from all military branches who later become community leaders.
