River Valley Democrat Gazette: Crawford County Army veteran chosen as Arkansas’ representative for the 2026 Purple Heart Patriot Project

A Crawford County Purple Heart recipient has been chosen to be one of the nation's 2026 Purple Heart Patriot Project honorees.

John Parette, an Alma native who now resides in Mountainburg, will represent his fellow Purple Heart heroes as Arkansas' representative at the multi-day tribute to America's combat wounded, according to a news release from the Purple Heart Patriot Project.
