It’s been 25 years since Villager Denise Woodfin was one of the sailors attacked on the USS Cole during an al-Qaida terrorist suicide bombing. The Purple Heart recipient recently was selected by the National Purple Heart Honor Mission as the only woman veteran to go on its 2026 Patriot Project trip.
